I've been doing triathlon for about 10 years. My journey started in part by accident. I showed up for a triathlon club meeting at Marquette University my freshman year. It turned out I was the only one who was new and they were all meeting to discuss logistics for a regional triathlon race that weekend. I had done a bit of swimming (but never open water), road biking, and had a background in running. I had a blast and had the fastest run split of the day. I was hooked and have been training and raining since then!
A few years ago I got my pro card with the intention to do non-draft olympic distance races. Unfortunately funding/prize money was pulled for most of the races I had planned to do, so I pivoted toward 1/2 IM racing. A pretty significant back injury has kept me from racing well for about 2 years. I was of course pretty disheartened... but then I found Castelli Multisport Team! This awesome group has brought back my excitement for racing and triathlon. I love hearing about all the challenges and adventures that people are doing.
For 2021, I'm challenging myself to step out of my comfort zone. This winter will include fat bike racing and the Birkie cross country ski race! I hope to get the opportunity to start on a few 1/2 Ironman distance races as well as local/regional sprint and olympic races.
