Triathlon isn't just a sport to me, it's my therapy, it's been where I've met some of my best friends and it's provided me with a model to live my life.
Most of my adult life I've worked in advertising as a copywriter and creative director, and triathlon has been the antidote to the stress. The mind body connection is something you hear talked about more and more for a reason. Cause it's the simplest way to become calm inside when the world outside is not.
While I've been slogging out all those miles, I've also made some of the best and longest lasting relationships from triathlon. Which can be summed up by the following...Triathlon isn't a sport, it's a sickness. But it doesn't seem so crazy when you're doing it with other people. I used to think riding 50 miles on a Saturday was crazy, until I started riding with people who thought a 100 mile ride on a Saturday was business as usual.
I've learned a lot about myself from training and racing, and believe that the more I do things like I do when I'm training like I would for a race, the more success I have when not wearing high tech fabrics.
